Höegh Gallant FSRU Commences Commercial Operations in Egypt

Höegh LNG on Thursday said that its Floating Storage and Regas Unit (FSRU) Höegh Gallant has commenced commercial operations in Egypt.

The FSRU successfully completed all performance and commissioning tests on 29 April 2015. Hoegh Gallant FSRU arrived in Egypt on the Gulf of Suez last month.

“Our project with Egas is a prime example of the speed and flexibility an FSRU solution offers for importing LNG; the contract was signed only five months before commercial operations commenced,” said Sveinung J.S. Støhle, President and CEO of HLNG.

In November last year, Hoegh LNG finalised a five year deal with EGAS to supply FSRU by the end of first quarter of 2015.

Höegh LNG had signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with EGAS in May last year for the use of one of its FSRU as an LNG import terminal in the port of Ain Sokhna, located on the Red Sea's Gulf of Suez. The FSRU was scheduled to start operations in the third quarter of 2014 but was delayed.
