Ukraine: Hawkley Oil & Gas Gets Go Ahead to Up Sorochynska Production

Australian-listed Hawkley Oil & Gas has been granted a 20-year production licence for the Sorochynska field in Ukraine, allowing the company to up its production from 20 per cent of capacity to 100 per cent.

Under the terms of a previous exploration licence, Hawkley was allowed only to commercially produce up to 20 per cent of product from the gas and condensate field. However, the new licence, granted by the Ukrainian state geological department, lifts those restrictions and allows Hawkley to produce at full capacity.

Currently, Hawkley is producing 6.9 million cubic feet a day of gas from the Sorochynska Well-201 on the site, as well as 200 barrels of gas condensate daily.

Hawkley has been producing gas from the field for the past year and has so far been required to process that gas through a third party's processing facility approximately 20 kilometres from the field. It says it may now begin the construction of its own gas plant on the licence area to process production. This will enhance current production rates, Hawkley says, and accommodate any future gas produced from new wells.

A full development plan will be based on information gathered from 3D seismic acquisition and geological and petrophysical analysis on the licence. This information will also form the basis for the drilling of multiple appraisal wells on the field.

Hawkley is the operator of the Sorochynska licence with a 100 per cent stake.
