Harbour revs up first gas at UK's Tolmount field: press

London-listed independent Harbour Energy has kicked off production at Tolmount gas field in the UK North Sea, Reuters reported on April 25, citing a source close to the company.

The launch was previously reported in an investor's bulletin from analyst firm Jefferies. Harbour Energy was formed last year from the reverse takeover of North Sea-focused explorer Premier Oil by privately-owned upstream company Chrysaor.

Harbour now operates Tolmount as a 50-50 joint venture with Dana Petroleum. The project is expected to reach peak gas output of 40,000 barrels of oil equivalent/day, and Harbour says it will lift UK gas output by an estimated 6%.

Harbour Energy was forced to delay the launch of Tolmount last year and reduced its reserves estimate to 24mn boe in December. It is also developing a satellite field Tolmount East, due on stream next year.

Harbour Energy expects its group production to average 195,000 to 210,000 boe/d in 2022, with around 90% of that total sourced from UK licences. Its net share at Tolmount is expected to contribute around 15,000 boe/d to that figure. Harbour Energy also holds development-stage assets in Norway, Indonesia, Vietnam and Mexico.
