GTT Picked for Tanks Designs for 10 Russian LNGCs

French LNG tech firm GTT has received another order from Russia's Zvezda shipyard, for the tank designs of 10 Arc7 ice-breaking LNG carriers (LNGCs), it said on October 28.

GTT did not say which company would own the vessels, which will each be fitted with GTT's Mark III membrane containment system and have a 172,600-m3 capacity. However, Russian gas supplier Novatek's Smart LNG joint venture with state shipping group Sovcomflot has ordered some 15 LNGCs from Zvezda to serve at the 19.8mn metric ton/year Arctic LNG-2 project, due on stream in 2023. Earlier GTT was selected to design tanks for 5 LNGCs from the shipyard.

GTT confirmed that the vessels would be used at Novatek projects, and would be delivered between the second half of 2024 and the end of 2025.

"We are very pleased to work with Zvezda and look forward to continuing this partnership through this second order for ten ARC7 ice-breaking LNG carriers," GTT CEO Philippe Berterottiere said.
