GTT Hired For LNGC Tank Designs

French LNG storage specialist GTT said on July 22 it had secured two orders from South Korea’s Hyundai for tank designs at two LNG carriers.

The vessels will be capable of storing 180,000 m3 and 174,000 m3 of gas respectively, GTT said, and will be built in South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) shipyards. The names of the two shipowners due to receive them remain confidential at this stage, it said.

The vessels’ tanks will be equipped with GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system. Their delivery is slated for sometime between the fourth quarter of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022.

GTT won another order earlier this month for tank designs at four LNG carriers due to be constructed at South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard and supplied to Greece’s Maran Gas.
