GS Engineering, Mitsui to Construct NGL Plant in Oman

A consortium of Mitsui & Co. and GS Engineering and Construction Corp has been awarded a contract to construct a NGL extraction plant in Oman.

In a statement released last month, Mitsui said that it will jointly work with the Korean engineering company GS Engineering and Construction Corp. on the project, awarded by Oman Oil Refinery and Petroleum Industries Company with capacity of 670 mmscf/day. Cost of the project is approx. $700 million.

The site of the project is Fahud, about 300 km south of the Sohar Industrial Port Area in Oman. The Liwa project will be the first EPC project in the oil and gas sector in Oman for Mitsui, which will lead to further growth of the oil and gas sector in Oman, Mitsui said.

Mitsui has presence in the upstream oil and gas sector in Oman through its participation in onshore oil and gas production and the Oman LNG project.
