Greece's Alpha Gas Gets New LNGC

Greek shipowner Alpha Gas has received a new LNG carrier (LNGC), the 173,400-m3 Energy Pacific, from South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), it said on September 14, following the vessel's completion of gas trials.

Alpha, a subsidiary of Pantheon Tankers Management, now has two LNGCs. Its first, the 160,000-m3 Energy Atlantic, was delivered in 2015 and mainly transports gas from Cheniere Energy's liquefaction facilities in the US.

Energy Pacific was ordered in 2018 for $185mn. DSME has been commissioned by Alpha for four LNGCs in total, with the second due to be delivered in the fourth quarter of this year, and two more in the second quarter of 2021.
