Giant and Junior Hope to Supply Perth Market

The Sydney Morning Herald writes of the spudding of a well by alumina/aluminium giant Alcoa and junior Transerv Energy.

Drilling is taking place at the Warro onshore “tight gas” field, 200 kilometres north of Perth in the Perth Basin.  The partners are hoping that the tight gas reservoirs can be made to flow at commercial rates once stimulated by hydraulic fracturing techniques.

Fracking and flow-testing program at tthe Warro 4 well could take three to six months to complete.  The hope is that the field could supply as much as 10 per cent of the Perth market.
