Germany wants non-Russian NGL sources: Press

Germany's economy ministry said on March 2 it had instructed its gas market trading hub to look outside Russia for natural gas liquids (NGL), Reuters has reported.

The trading hub will seek €1.5bn ($1.7bn) of NGLs from non-Russian suppliers even though Moscow was flawless in fulfilling obligations from its supply contracts.

"It is now a matter of deciding where to buy the gas," a ministry spokesman told a press gathering. "I don't want to commit myself to a specific number of days, but it will happen at very short notice."

According to the 2021 edition of the BP Statistical Review of World Energy, NGL production from the Russian Federation averaged 474,900 b/d in 2020.
