Gazprom's non-FSU gas exports up 4.8% so far this year

Gas exports by Russia's Gazprom to countries beyond the former Soviet Union were up 4.8% in the first 11 and a half months this year, at 178.1bn m3, the company reported on December 15.

While Gazprom's deliveries are higher year on year, its shipments in 2020 were unusually low because of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on demand. The company's sales slumped in November to a record low, contributing to a further spike in European gas prices.

Gazprom's production between January 1 and December 15 totalled 490.4bn m3, the company said, marking a 14.2% growth compared with the same period of 2020. It said deliveries to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline continued to grow, and were a third higher than the contractual flow rate in December.

The January gas delivery contract at the Dutch TTF hub closed 3.2% higher on December 16 at a record €136.55 ($154.5)/MWh, following steady gains over the course of the week. Storage facilities in the EU and the UK were 61% full on December 16.
