Gazprom Ups Production from Yamal-Nenets Field

Gazprom has increased production from one of its largely fields in the Yamal-Nenets region by 15 billion cubic metres a year following the construction and hook-up of 42 new production wells.

The company says the measure has increased production from the Zapolyarnoye field from 100 billion cubic metres a year, which it has stood at since 2004, to 115 billion cubic metres. The increase in gas production comes from the Cenomanian deposit on the field.

Gazprom also says that it is working to increase the Valanginian deposits on the field with 79 wells due to come onstream this year. The company is also planning to bring another comprehensive gas treatment unit (CGTU) onstream this year, the CGTU 1-V. This unit, in addition to the CGTU 2-V already in operation on the field, will increase the production capacities of Valanginian deposits from nearly 6.5 billion cubic metres a year to almost 15 billion cubic metres.

When these additional 79 wells and new CGTU come onstream, Gazprom says the production from the field will rise to 130 billion cubic metres by the end of this year.

The Zapolyarnoye field is one of the largest field, not just in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area but in the whole of Russia, with reserves of oil, gas and condensate. Estimated reserves on the field total three trillion billion cubic metres.
