Gazprom Sees South Stream Advancing Steadily

Gazprom Management Committee pointed out that the South Stream project is advancing ‘steadily,’ with tangible progress in Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia.

‘The Southern Corridor and South Stream related activities are meeting their schedules. As planned, the first gas will be supplied via South Stream in late 2015,’ reads the note released on Thursday

According to the Russian company, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Bulgarian offshore section is expected before December 2013, while ‘the bidding procedure is organized for the selection of pipe supply and deep-water laying contractors.’

Similarly, Gazprom sayed that operations are in line with plans also in the other countries involved.

‘In January 2014 it is expected to complete the technical part of the design documentation for determining a route for the Hungarian section,’ reads the press release, adding that works are underway in Slovenia to complete the preparations of the documents required for the EIA. According to the note, the South Stream project is proceeding also in Serbia and Croatia.
