Gazprom Ships Gas to OMV under New Long-term Deal

Russia's Gazprom announced on December 2 it had launched gas deliveries to the German market under a long-term supply deal with Austria's OMV.

The pair signed a new contract at the end of October – a deal that "proves that Russian pipeline gas will remain in demand in Europe for many years to come," Gazprom Export director general Elena Burmistrova said in a statement.

Gazprom has been working with OMV in gas production, transportation and supply for more than five decades. Germany is Europe's biggest gas market and the largest foreign market for Russian gas. It consumed some 53.5bn m3 of gas from Gazprom last year, according to the Russian company's data, down 8.5% yr/yr.
