Gazprom sees Poland Gas Deal in October

According to Gazprom deputy CEO Alexander Medvedev, the Russian corporation may sign its new gas deal with Poland in October.

He reveals that next week the two sides are to hold bilateral talks regarding the matter, which will also be attended by European Commission (EC) representatives. Commenting on the negotiations held last week, Medvedev describes them as "constructive", adding that they led to introducing concrete corrections into the initialed agreements.

If the related documents are accepted by Poland, he says, they will be signed in October, which will enable the country to receive as much gas as it needs. The Gazprom deputy CEO underlines that both sides agree that the effective intergovernmental agreements cannot be subject to revisions.

The new Polish-Russian gas deal has been the subject of negotiations since spring, with some of its provisions questioned by the EC.
