Gazprom Says Rostov Region Now Fully Linked to Natural Gas Supply

Gazprom, the giant Russian energy provider, says it has improved supply to the southern Rostov region of the federation, making it one of the best connected areas.

In a statement recording a meeting between chief executive Alexei Miller and Vasily Golubev, governor of the Rostov Region, the company said that collaboration between Gazprom and the Rostov Region Government had meant the gasification level in the region rose by 20.3%  – up to 79.5%. The average gasification level in Russia stands at 63.2%.

The Zavetinsky district of Rostov, one of the last remaining districts without natural gas, is to be connected via pipelines commissioned on December 29, 2012.

The meeting also addressed the issues of natural gas use as a motor fuel. At the moment, Gazprom is working on a feasibility study for the construction of four compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations in the region. Gazprom aslo submitted a draft Program for Expanding Regional CNG Filling Stations Network for consideration by the Rostov administration.
