Gazprom Exports Down 19% in Q1: Press

Gazprom's gas exports to Europe plunged 19.2% year on year in the first quarter, a source familiar with the data told Reuters on May 14, landing at 39.62bn m3. This is similar to the figure calculated by Thierry Bros, of 20.5%, for the period, in his analysis of Gazprom's pipeline gas exports.

The Russian company has not disclosed number for exports this year yet. But it has said it expects shipments to Europe plus Turkey and China, but excluding countries in the former Soviet Union, to drop more than 16% this year to 166.6bn m3, as a result of the demand destruction caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The company, which meets around 35% of Europe's gas demand, was forecasting stable export volumes as recently as February.

Gazprom is due to publish its first-quarter results, including export volumes, in late May.
