Gazprom to Expand Asia-Pacific LNG Market

Russia’s Gazprom announced its intention to step up its investments to enter new LNG markets, expanding large-scale exports in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific market while organizing small-scale supply of LNG.

‘Within quite a short period of time the company has become a full-fledged participant of the global LNG trade,’ reads a note released by the company on Tuesday

The Board of Directors sees in LNG developments an additional competitive advantage.

‘Gazprom's LNG sales efficiently compliment pipeline supply, making it possible to enter new gas markets,’ explains the note.

The company considers two options to increase its presence in the LNG markets. It wants to increase production of its own LNG to expand in the Asia-Pacific market, while ‘organizing small-scale supply of LNG to be used as a motor and marine vehicle fuel as well as for household and industrial consumers.’
