Gazprom Continues Talks with Ukraine

Talks on gas cooperation have continued between Gazprom and Ukraine today. Chairman of Gazprom's management committee Alexey Miller met with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich in Kiev today.

A statement from Gazprom says that both partied were satisfied with the negotiations.

"Intense efforts were taken and a range of complicated issues have been discussed by now," the statement read.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Yuri Boiko told the Interfax news agency that both sides were working on the details of the deal.

"On all the principal issues that had been discussed, we are carrying out technical work and implementation of these agreements," he said today.

Yesterday, Ukrainian Deputy Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Makukha confirmed that state-run Naftogaz Ukrainy had been forced to take a $550 million credit from Gazprombank to pay for gas imports, due to a lack of working capital.

Ukrainian gas prices continue to remain high, with Ukraine attempting to renegotiate prices for some months now.
