Gazprom Commissions Carbon Audit from KPMG

Gazprom became the first Russian energy company to perform an independent audit review (assurance) of corporate information on greenhouse gas emissions, it said June 14. The audit was carried out by KPMG, an audit and advisory company, in compliance with international standards.

The positive results of the independent audit review prove the efficiency of the corporate system for greenhouse gas monitoring, accounting and management, it said.

S&P 2023

According to calculations, greenhouse gas emissions by Gazprom’s core businesses – the production, transportation, underground storage and processing facilities – are on the decline. In 2017, such emissions totalled 112.15mn metric tons in CO2 equivalent, a drop of 12.9% from 2013 at roughly the same production levels. However it named no external source for the earlier data.
