Gazprom Beats Daily Export Record

In August, Gazprom set an absolute record of capacity utilisation for daily gas export in the history of the company, despite the hot weather. The volume of energy supplies on August 16 amounted to 586.5mn m³, according to a company statement August 17.

The gas holding company notes that the record of supplies arose in part from storage injection in Europe on the eve of the heating season. Gazprom is a big owner of storage, such as the Rehden plant in Germany and Haidach in Austria.

On August 16, Gazprom said the export of gas to the far abroad – Europe and Turkey but not former Soviet Union states outside the EU – between January 1 and August 15 grew by 12% compared to the same period last year. During this period, it sold 118.3bn m³ of gas to foreign consumers.

Notable increases were to Turkey (+22.4%), Greece (+13.2%), Serbia (+40.8%), Bulgaria (+11.1%) and Hungary (+24.4%) although from relatively small bases, in the case of Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia.
