Gazprom and Kazakh Leaders Talk Energy

Kazakhstan's oil minister has held a working meeting with Alexey Miller, chairman of Russian gas giant Gazprom, at the company's headquarters in Moscow.

Sauat Mynbayev, Oil and Gas Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, discussed energy co-operation with Gazprom's chief.

A statement on Gazprom's website said the discussion included the implementation of joint projects in hydrocarbon exploration, production, processing and marketing.

Last year Kazakhstan bought around 930 million cubic meters (bcm) of Russian natural gas. The central Asian republic has its own estimated resources of natural gas at around 8 trillion cubic meters (tcm),  including offshore fields in the Caspian Sea.
