Gasunie hires N-Sea for North Sea pipe survey

Dutch gas grid operator Gasunie has hired subsea service provider N-Sea to undertake an acoustic survey of around 230 km of offshore pipeline in the south North Sea between Balgzand in the Netherlands and Bacton in the UK.

The survey covers the acquisition of high-quality to verify the pipeline's condition and identify any anomalies, Gasunie said, with the contract due to run for four years, with an extension possible.

Commissioned in 2019, the Balgzand-Bacton pipeline flows up to 42mn m3/day of gas between the Netherlands and the UK. It is operated by Gasunie with a 60% interest, with Uniper and Fluxys each holding 20% shares.
