Gasum CEO quits, search for replacement begins

The CEO of Finnish state utility Gasum, Johanna Lamminen, has been replaced with the CFO Kai Laitinen with immediate effect, Gasum said September 1. The recruitment process for a new CEO is now under way but it gave no details of when Lamminen's contract was due to end. She had held the post since 2014 and said it was time to move on.

Among her achievements were the acquisition of Linde's LNG bunkering and biogas businesses in Germany and Scandinavia. She said the new assets would enable "Gasum to supply and to ensure the availability of a competitive, low-emission form of energy to meet the demands of industrial, maritime and road transport customers in the Nordic countries."

Thanking Lamminen, company chairman Elina Engman said Gasum had "made the transition from a traditional natural gas transmission and distribution company to a Nordic gas and energy company aiming towards a cleaner tomorrow. The natural gas market in Finland opened for competition in 2020, and Gasum has played a significant role in preparing the market opening,"

Lamminen said: "The work is done, and now it is the right time for me to head towards new challenges."
