Gasum Cements Role in Nordic LNG Market

Transmission system operator of the natural grid of Finland Gasum sees a consistent growth of long-term LNG offering in the Nordic market, after acquiring 51% of the LNG distribution business of Norway’s Skangass from the Lyse Group

‘The Skangass acquisition supports our strategy and the Finnish Government’s goal of speeding up the construction of LNG infrastructure to ensure the availability and distribution of LNG for maritime transport and industry,’ Gasum’s Chief Executive Officer Johanna Lamminen said in a note released on Monday.

According to the existing agreement, Gasum’s LNG business, the Porvoo production facility and the planned Pori terminal will become part of Skangass.

‘This acquisition strengthens our position as a leading LNG player in the Nordic Market. Together we have strong know-how in safe and efficient terminal operations, transport and bunkering operations as well as customer support,’ Skangass CEO Tor Morten Osmundsen commented.
