Gasum Carries Out First Ship-to-Ship LNG Bunkering in Malmo

Finnish gas company Gasum has refuelled a vessel belonging to United European Car Carriers with LNG at the Swedish port of Malmo, it said on August 26, marking the first time that ship-to-ship bunkering has taken place at the port.

The Auto Energy car carrier, which mainly operates between Zeebrugge in Belgium and St Petersburg in Russia, was serviced by Gasum's Coralius bunkering vessel.

Gasum has been steadily expanding its bunkering operations in northern Europe. "The addition of more ports to our LNG network is our response to customer demands and underlines the fact that LNG bunkering is closing in on conventional bunkering," Gasum said, drawing attention to LNG's status as the cleanest available marine fuel.
