Gasum Secures More LNG Bunkering Business

Gasum said on May 27 it had formed a partnership with Samskip, a Rotterdam-based shipping company, allowing the latter to bunker LNG at the Finnish gas firm's liquefaction plant at Risavika, Norway. Samskip owns two LNG-fuelled vessels, Samskip Kvitbjorn and Samskip Kvitnos.

The LNG plant at Risavika is just 200 metres from the quayside, enabling LNG to be bunkered swiftly and safely using a loading arm, Gasum said.

"Bunkering LNG in Risavika is a great asset to us and vastly improves our bunker network. We are looking forward to developing our relationship to gain further benefits from Gasum’s products and services," Samskip CEO Kari-Pekka Laaksonen commented.

Samskip Kvitbjorn and Samskip Kvitnos carry out liner shipping between Rotterdam and Norway, travelling all the way to the Europe’s northernmost town Hammerfest, working on a regular route with fixed schedules. They are equipped with Rolls Royce single-fuel LNG engines.
