Gas Production Starts at Ruby Field Offshore Indonesia

Inpex Corporation on Sunday commenced natural gas production from the Ruby gas field in the Sebuku PSC offshore Indonesia.

The field has been developed by Inpex with partners Mubadala Petroleum, the operator, and Total.

The natural gas produced from the field is delivered to the existing onshore processing facility of the offshore Mahakam Block through a subsea pipeline. Then the gas is processed and supplied to a fertilizer plant located in East Kalimantan, Indonesia via an onshore pipeline.

The field is expected to produce natural gas at the rate of 100 million scfd (approximately 17,000boed), Inpex said.

The Japanese firm has a 50% participating interest in the offshore Mahakam Block, which has the largest gas production in Indonesia.

Inpex is also engaged in developing the Abadi LNG project in the Masela Block, the Arafura Sea, for which the company is now preparing for the development as the operator.
