Gas pipe catches fire in central Russia

The Urengoy-Center 2 gas pipeline carrying Siberian gas to central Russia leaked and caught ablaze on the evening on July 26, Russia's ministry of emergency situations has reported.

Authorities were alerted at 18:45 to the incident, which occurred in the Perm region near the Sylva river. There were no casualties and according to the operator Gazprom, gas supplies to consumers have been delivered in full via parallel pipelines . The ministry confirmed that the blaze had been extinguished in a statement at oo:16 on July 27.
