Gas Malaysia Unit Gets LNG Import Licence

Malaysian gas retailer Gas Malaysia March 18 said its subsidiary has been granted a 10-year licence by the Energy Commission to import LNG into the country.

Gas Malaysia said the licence allows its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gas Malaysia Energy and Services, to import the LNG into Malaysia by any means other than by transshipment.

“The issuance of the licence will have no material effect on the earnings and financial position of Gas Malaysia group for the financial year ending 31 December 2020,” the company said.

Gas Malaysia supplies natural gas and LPG to homes, commercial businesses and industries in Malaysia. Apart from the general public, its shareholders include MMC Corporation, Tokyo Gas, and Petronas Gas.
