Gas Deliveries to Iranian Power Plants Crosses 44 Bcm

Gas deliveries to Iranian power plants have reached 44.253 billion cubic meters so far this year, up by 10.63 bcm on year, state owned Shana News said Saturday.

The current Iranian calendar year started on March 21, 2014.

Gas delivery to power plants averaged 142 million cubic meters per day during the first 313 days of this year while average daily gas delivery stood at 105 million liters over the similar period last year, National Iranian Gas Company’s (NIGC) official Mojtaba Sheikhbahaei said, Shana reported.

According to Sheikhbahaei, rising gas delivery to power plants and large industries enabled Ministry of Petroleum to save equivalent amount of oil products.

During past years, Petroleum Ministry had to supply power plants with liquid fuel in winters due to rising gas consumption by household and commercial sectors and lack of enough gas which also reduced feedstock delivery to the petrochemical sector and forced closure of some petrochemical complexes in winter, Shana added.
