French GTT Wins Orders for LNGC Tank Designs

French LNG engineer GTT has secured orders for tank designs at eight new LNG carriers (LNGCs), the company reported on September 4.

Seven of the vessels will be built by South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) for three shipowners in America, Oceania and Bermuda, it said. Details of the eighth ship order are confidential, according to GTT.

GTT’s Mark III cryogenic liner technology will be used at six of the LNGCs that SHI is developing, while its Mark III Flex+ technology will be deployed at the seventh. The vessels, each with 174,000 m3 storage capacity, are due for delivery between the end of 2021 and the end of 2022.

GTT saw profits drop 25% yr/yr in the first half, although its orders are at record levels.
