French GTT Wins Onshore LNG Tanks Contract

French LNG technology experts GTT has received an order from China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Co (HQC) to design two full integrity LNG membrane storage tanks, it said June 24. These two reservoirs, with a capacity of 220,000 m3 each – enough to hold the entire contents of a 216,000 m³ Q-Flex tanker – will be the largest terrestrial storage tanks in China, it said.

This order is part of the agreement signed in November 2019 between GTT and the Chinese public enterprise Beijing Enterprises Group (BEG.

GTT CEO Philippe Berterottiere said GTT was "very pleased to collaborate with BGG, a long-standing partner of Engie, and HQC to design two very large membrane tanks in China."

GTT will design these membrane tanks in the southern industrial zone of the port of Tianjin in China and they should be commissioned during the last quarter of 2022.

HQC president Wang Xinge said he was "proud to have been selected for this project and to be the spearhead of innovation in China alongside Beijing Gas and GTT."
