Fluor JV Completes Module Fabrication for Cnooc Gas Project

COOEC-Fluor Heavy Industries, a joint venture between China’s COOEC and Fluor, has completed the central and wellhead platforms for Cnooc’s Dongfang 13-2 gas fields development project, Fluor said April 17.

The central platform recently departed the COOEC-Fluor yard in Zhuhai, China, and follows the loadout of the wellhead platform in August 2018, the company said. The modules will make up part of a new offshore oil and gas production platform in the western South China Sea, 132 km west of Dongfang City.

The joint venture was responsible for assembling, commissioning and loading out the two offshore modules, which have a total weight of 19,100 metric tons.

The project supports further natural gas development in the South China Sea, Fluor said. Once in operation, the facility is expected to produce 43,400 boe/day at peak from the high-temperature and high-pressure gas fields.
