Florida gas distributor plans RNG facility

Florida's largest gas distribution firm Peoples Gas has signed an agreement with Alliance Dairies to build, own and operate a renewable natural gas (RNG) facility on the latter's dairy site in Trento near Gainesville.

The facility will produce 105,000mn Btu/year of RNG, Peoples Gas said on June 15, which is enough to cover the gas needs of around 4,400 homes. It will capture waste from 6,500 cows and process it into pipeline-quality gas.

Peoples Gas, a subsidiary of Emera Inc, has around 425,000 customers across Florida.
