Flex LNG takes delivery of final LNGC

Bermuda-based fleet owner Flex LNG said on social media on May 31 that it had taken delivery of another LNG carrier (LNGC) from South Korea's Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

The Flex Vigilant has a capacity of 174,000 m3 and is a sister vessel to Flex LNG's Aurora, Amber and Volunteer LNGCs. It will serve US LNG exporter Cheniere Energy under a three-year time charter deal.

"With this latest delivery, all of our 13 ships have been delivered according to time and budget and our newbuilding programme is completed," Flex LNG said in its post.

Flex LNG enjoyed its best quarter to date in the three months ending March 31, on the back of a recovery in LNG demand. A cold snap early on in the year led to a spike in gas consumption, in turn resulting in higher LNG imports and increased LNG freight rates.
