Excelerate Completes 100th STS Transfer at Pakistan Terminal

Excelerate Energy performed its hundredth ship-to-ship (STS) transfer of LNG at the Engro Elengy terminal in Port Qasim, Pakistan, it said August 28.

With this milestone, Excelerate's floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), Exquisite, has transferred more than 14mn m³ of LNG at the terminal.

Engro Elengy terminal is Pakistan's first LNG import terminal and was commissioned in March 2015.

Pakistan has been able to cut power deficit significantly since it began importing LNG two years ago and the government has said that LNG will be an important part of the country’s energy mix. Pakistan imported 2.95mn metric tons of LNG in 2016, a year-on-year increase of 181%, according to the latest annual report of the International LNG Importers Group. During 2016, 72% of its imports came from Qatar.
