European Trader Body Names New Chair

The director of continental power trade for Swedish state utility Vattenfall, Marcus Bokermann, was appointed chair of the board of European Federation of Energy Traders (Efet) end 2020. He had been on the board since 2015, Efet said January 19, and sat on the organisation's electricity committee for five years before that.

"I take over as chair at a time when more member companies than ever before are relying on Efet to represent them in debates about how an energy transition will contribute to European carbon neutrality. I am convinced that wholesale power and gas markets and participants in them have a huge role to play at the centre of this transition. Market based mechanisms and traded instruments offer the most efficient path to rapid decarbonisation, extending to new sectors of the economy," Bokermann said.
