European Commission Confirms LNG Strategy By March 2016

The European Commission released a document on Thursday saying it should adopt its revised Security of Gas Supply Regulation by March 2016, confirming it would come up with its "Strategy for Liquefied Natural Gas & Storage" in the same period.

Also in the first quarter of next year, the European Commission plans to adopt its "Strategy for Heating and Cooling."

DG Energy wrote on Wednesday that it will also work on its legislative proposal on electricity market design.

"Much remains to be done across all five dimensions. That work will start in early 2016 with the Security of Supply package and will be followed later in the year with a review of energy efficiency and renewable energy legislation, as well as a legislative proposal on electricity market design," Dominique Ristori, director-general of the Directorate-General for Energy within the European Commission, wrote in a newsletter.

The European Commission presented its first State of the Energy Union on November 19.
