Europe Presses US For LNG Export Liberalization

Lithuania pressed the United States to sign into law the LNG exports liberalization, voicing widespread cry for help to decrease Europe's reliance on Russia’s gas.

‘On March 25, during its visit to Washington, Minister of Energy Jaroslav Neverovič attended the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearings and spoke about the urgency of the liberalization of the liquefied natural gas exports from the U.S. to NATO allies,’ reads a note released on Wednesday.

This claim comes while US President Barack Obama is visiting Europe. After a tour in the Flanders Field American war cemetery, he is expected to discuss European gas security in Brussels and then in Rome.

"Right now, as we look around the world, there is a powerful reason for Europe and the United States to come together to demonstrate that they can take their relationship to a new level," Obama's top trade envoy, Michael Froman, said during a visit to Brussels before a summit with EU’s top officials.
