Norway's Equinor Changes CFO

The chief financial officer of Norway's Equinor Lars Bacher has tendered his resignation and will be replaced on November 1 by Svein Skeie, the company said on October 23. The new appointment thus takes effect a day before Anders Opedal replaces Eldar Saetre as CEO.

Bacher has worked at Equinor for 29 years, and has served as CFO since August 2018. Skeie has been at the company for 24 years, and has held several leadership positions in finance, business development and economic analysis. His current position is senior vice president for CFO performance management and control.

The changeover comes at a time when the state-owned company is facing scrutiny from the Norwegian government over the $9.2bn in impairments it suffered from its foray into the US upstream sector.
