Eni Successfully Appraises Well Offshore Indonesia

Eni successfully drilled and tested Merakes 2, the first appraisal well of the Merakes discovery in East Sepinggan, Indonesia. The block is in the offshore Kutei Basin and the Merakes discovery is 35km from the Eni-operated Jangkrik field, which is expected to start producing through a floating-production unit in the second quarter of this year.

Merakes discovery is currently estimated to have 2 trillion ft³ of gas in place with further additional potential to be evaluated, Eni said January 31.

Eni is the operator of East Sepinggan PSC with its affiliate Eni East Sepinggan holding 85% intrest while Pertamina Hulu Energy holds the remaining 15%.
