Eni Ships 1st Jangkrik Cargo

Eni said it shipped its first cargo of LNG on June 22 produced from the Jangkrik field. It will go into Indonesia's domestic market.

The 22,500 m3 cargo left the Bontang liquefaction complex in East Kalimantan, and is headed to Bali, also in Indonesia, where it will be unloaded as part of a long-term LNG contract signed with Pertamina in mid-2015.

Gas production at the Eni-operated Jangkrik field began ahead of schedule on May 15 2017. Gas is processed onboard the FPU Jangkrik, then flows to an onshore receiving facility, before finally passing through the East Kalimantan transportation system to Bontang. The LNG produced is sold under long-term contracts, partly to Pertamina, and partly to Eni itself for sale as part of the development of its international LNG portfolio.

Jangkrik is part of the Muara Bakau production sharing contract, operated with a 55% interest by Eni; partners are Engie E&P 33.334% and local Saka Energi Muara Bakau with 11.666%. All activities are regulated by SKK Migas on behalf of the Indonesian government.

The volume of LNG supplied and traded within Indonesia (so not exported) in 2016 was 3.23mn metric tons, according to the latest annual report of the Paris-based International LNG Importers Group (GIIGNL).
