Eni, Sabic ink Gas Technology Deal

Italian Eni and Saudi petrochemicals firm Sabic will jointly develop a technology for turning gas into synthesis gas to produce high value fuels and chemicals such as methanol, Eni said February 8. It will be based on their existing proprietory know-how in the sector and will help to lower emissions.

The joint development agreement includes building an industrial demonstration plant on Eni's industrial premises.

They hope the joint technology will be an innovative way of making synthesis gas and integrating it into high value applications to achieve lower capital and operating costs, achieve higher energy efficiency, shrink their CO2 footprint and widen the feedstock flexibility.
