Eni Inks China MoU

China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Italy’s Eni signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on energy co-operation on December 29, the Italian company said that day.

The MoU was inked by Huang Yong, director-general of the international co-operation center (ICC) of the NDRC, and Eni CEO, Claudio Descalzi, at the Italian embassy in Beijing on the occasion of the China-Italy Joint Government Committee.

Eni said the MoU establishes a co-operation framework aimed at facilitating joint initiatives between Eni and Chinese counterparts across the entire energy value chain in China and internationally. The partnership will allow the sharing of knowledge and best practices, Eni said. It will also allow the parties to assess the impact of energy policies and market regulations, identify areas of mutual interest, and develop relationships with Chinese institutions and companies at the national, provincial and municipal levels, Eni added.

“In light of their common goals of sustainable development and energy transition to decarbonisation, the parties will explore potential opportunities of collaboration focusing on low-carbon energy sources, advanced technologies and circular economy initiatives,” Eni said.
