Eni Buys Spanish Energy Retailer

Italian energy firm Eni has bought all the shares in Iberian power and gas retailer Aldro Energia from Grupo Pitma, it said after signing the contract January 25. The deal, for an undisclosed sum, requires regulatory approval and also includes the back-office company Instalaciones Martìnez Dìaz.

“This acquisition allows Eni gas e luce to expand its presence in the European market, which will be central to the strategy of development of its activities. The company aims to increase its portfolio, reaching 11mn customers in 2023 to offer not only gas and electricity but the entire range of services related to home and energy," said Eni gas e luce CEO Alberto Chiarini.

Aldro Energia is based in Cantabria and provides energy to 250,000 mostly small and medium customers mainly in Spain and Portugal.

Eni gas e luce will grow the business with new services, adding revenue streams that go beyond the supply of gas and electricity such as energy efficiency and e-mobility. "The aim of the company is to provide highly professional and sustainable solutions in order to contribute to the energy transition," it said.
