Energy Resources, Norwest to test Lockyer Deep-1

Energy Resources and Norwest Energy have suspended the Lockyer Deep-1 well in the Perth basin for production testing, Norwest said on November 2.

The cement bond log and vertical seismic profile wireline runs will be acquired after the rig has been demobilised from the site. The total well cost is estimated to be about A$18.5mn ($13.8mn), the company said.

"Lockyer Deep-1 has confirmed a very significant conventional gas resource and we are delighted to have reached this key milestone in operations,” Norwest managing director Iain Smith said.

Smith added that the production testing will be conducted by early next year. Energy Resources is pushing forward with plans to acquire 2D and 3D seismic surveys across permits EP368 and EP426, the results of which will serve to optimise the forward appraisal and the exploration drilling programme, Norwest said.

Lockyer Deep-1 is situated within EP368, a permit controlled by a joint venture between Norwest (20%) and Energy Resources (80%).
