Energean Test Flows Well at Israel's Karish Field

East Mediterranean-focused Energean Oil & Gas has reported successful test flows from a development well at Israel's offshore Karish field, which it aims to start up in 2021, the company said in a statement on February 20.

The Karish Main-02 well flowed at a peak rate of 120mn ft3/day, limited only by the capacity of the surface equipment Energean was using. Performance modelling confirms it could produce at a rate of 300mn ft3/day, the company said.

Energean aims to bring Karish and the neighbouring Tanin field into production in the first half of next year, using the 8bn m3/yr Energean Power floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit. The unit is currently being built in China.

Energean finished drilling the three Karish Main development wells last year, and their christmas trees should be installed before the end of the first quarter. More the half of the fields' gas is to be sold in Israel, while the rest will be exported.
