Empire Files $143mn Empire North Project

Empire Pipeline, a unit of National Fuel Gas, filed on February 18 an application with the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Ferc) seeking approval for its Empire North Project. Ferc advised of the application on March 5.

Empire North consists of a new 21,068 hp compressor station in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, a new 32,000 hp compressor station in Ontario County, New York and modifications to two other compressor stations in Pennsylvania. The work, at an estimated cost of $142.4mn, will provide 205mn ft3/day of firm transportation service to electric utilities and industrial customers in New York state.

Empire Pipeline is targeting a November 2019 in-service date.
