Elengy Terminal Pakistan Limited to Set Up Re-gasification Facility

Elengy Terminal Pakistan Limited (ETPL) will set up a re-gasification facility and handle LNG on tolling basis for 15 years, Pakistani newspaper The News reports.

The project is expected to be complete in 11 months from the signing of the agreement, which is expected to be done soon, company representatives said in a briefing, says the newspaper.

On the first year of operation, the facility will handle 200mmcfd of LNG, which may increase to 400mmcfd from the second year onwards, according to The News.

ETPL is a 100 percent owned subsidiary of Engro Corporation, and had bid for the fast track LNG import facility advertised by the government of Pakistan through the Interstate Gas Company Limited.

According to the newspaper, Pakistan is looking to buy 200 million cubic feet of LNG per day (mmcfd), which will be re-gasified at the Port Qasim terminal and later injected into the system. The country is also interested in importing two billion cubic feet per day in the next two-and-a-half years, adds The News.
