Echo Starts 1st Argentine Well

UK-based explorer Echo Energy has begun drilling its first exploration well in a four well back-to-back campaign in its Fraccion C asset, onshore Argentina, it said May 9.

The Petreven H-205 rig, on contract to Echo's joint venture partner Compania General de Combustibles, spudded the company's first exploration well ELM-1004, aimed at the crest of a structure believed to contain some 38bn ft³ gas . The well is about 4 km northeast of the existing Estancia La Maggie gas collection facilities

At Fraccion D, the extended flow period of the CSo-85 well test has now been successfully completed after its workover and the well has been shut in for the planned pressure build up, Echo said.
